Jen Mccarter - owner, PHI and Balanced Body certified

Jen is the owner, trainer and Pilates Instructor at Pure Joy Pilates located in Prior Lake, MN. She opened the studio in November of 2017 with over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry.  

Pilates became a passion of Jen's in 2005 when she started her training with PHI Pilates based out of Philadelphia, PA.  To her, the Pilates method and fitness principals made sense! Since then, her style has stayed very traditional in comparison to larger studios and fitness facilities.  Jen's approach is to offer safe and effective Pilates training in a small group or individualized sessions to get the most out of the workout in addition to creating a balance of the body and mind!

Jen received her BS in Exercises Physiology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2004 and holds certifications in both Mat and Reformer Pilates from PHI Pilates. In addition, she is certified through Balanced Body where she is currently enrolled in their Master Training Program

Laurie Bushlack - Instructor and Trainer

Having trained for many years in dance (including intensive study at the Gus Giordano Center), she parlayed her interest in the anatomy of movement into a role as a fitness instructor. Even so, continuing involvement in the dance arts came through creating choreography in the Miss America pageant system for over 20 years. Laurie loves exploring all the possibilities different modes of fitness offer. As a result her certifications and experience include: General Fitness: NETA Certified Group Fitness Instructor; Crossfit Level 1; KBC Level 1 Kettlebell Trainer; TRX Suspension Trainer and TRX Rip Trainer; R.I.P.P.E.D.; NETA Indoor Cycling; TABATA Bootcamp; Outdoor Bootcamp Mind/Body: 200+Hour Registered Yoga Trainer; Yin Yoga; Buti Yoga; Stott Pilates Mat & Reformer; Barre; Tae Kwon Do upper belt levels Dance Fitness: Zumba 1 & 2; Zumba Toning; Zumba Gold; Zumba Kids; Strong by Zumba; Keeping workouts fresh with challenging variety and focusing on adaptation to individual client needs, Laurie's belief is that many modes of exercise can be complimentary and that the best of these can be tailored to each individual to achieve the ultimate in functional fitness.
